Yoga Lessons in Writing

Okay, pain is no fun. But I love that creators can turn their pain into something beautiful that not only informs but also inspires others. Today, I’m excited to feature poet, Christa Fairbrother, who is also a yoga instructor. She has used her yoga skills to manage her pain and guide her writing. Join us today for a special yoga lesson … in writing.

Seasons of Creativity

Have you ever noticed that like many things in life, creativity often seems to ebb and flow in the hustle and bustle of life? Some days, the creative energy flows and putting the words down on paper—or putting the paint on canvas—can’t happen fast enough. Then other days, the well is dry and all you have to show for a days work is an empty page or canvas. Publishing is no different.

I Don’t Feel Like Writing

Let’s face it. Some days, we just don’t “feel” like writing. But then there are days (maybe even weeks or months) where that “feeling” is deeper due to chronic illness or fatigue. The guilt over not writing is sometimes just as crippling as the fatigue itself.

Riding the Rollercoaster

Publishing is like a roller coaster, but is that a good thing or not? For some, roller coasters are fun and exciting, full of unexpected twists and turns—a surprise around every corner. But others, like me, thrill rides (like roller coasters) can be exhausting.

Deadlines in the Middle of Chaos

If you’ve been dealing with chronic illness for any length of time, you will know (from experience) that some days and even months are filled with more chaos than others. Plans fail. Life spins out of control. Your strength depletes quicker than ever. Health issues complicate matters more than normal.

Her book KENZIE’S LITTLE TREE features a child who is dealing with chronic illness. Be sure to check it out when it releases next March! In theContinue reading “Finding Energy for Creativity”

Writing through the Storm

My husband thinks I’m strange, but I love thunderstorms. I grew up in south Florida where thunderstorms were just a part of afternoon life, especially in the summertime. I love to curl up in a blanket and let the rolling thunder outside lull me to sleep like a lullaby. But that wasn’t the case when Hurricane Helene slammed into our small mountain community just two weeks ago.
